Which are some nice places to visit
Our 22 most beautiful places in the world
Here it comes: The ultimate list of the 22 most beautiful places in the world. No, of course that's nonsense. There can be no such list. Everyone has their personal favorite places and there should even be people who think Munich is more beautiful than Berlin. Crazy, right?

We have been on the road a lot in the past few years and have seen many wonderful places. But there are only a few who really made a lasting impression on us. And that's exactly what we want to introduce you to here.
In total there are of course exactly 22 locations. 22places. This list will change again and again, we haven't seen the whole world by a long way.
So there will always be new places added and places will disappear from the list again.
We're changing too, and maybe at some point we'll even find Munich more beautiful than Berlin. Although it will probably not come to that.
Which places are now on the list? Good question. Just all the places that we found particularly cool and impressive.
It can be a specific place, a whole country, a view or landscape, maybe a restaurant or a market or a city.
So, enough of the preface. Here we go!

# 1 Myanmar
We'll start right away with an entire country: Myanmar. No country has made such a lasting impression on us as this beautiful country that has long been isolated from the outside world.
There are so many wonderful places in Myanmar that we don't want to decide which one is exactly. That wouldn't be fair.
Bagan, the city of temples! Or Mandalay with its extraordinary temples and the longest wooden bridge in the world. Or the former capital Yangon, with the wonderful Shwedagon Pagoda.
Or Mrauk U in the north, where few tourists go because of the difficult journey. As you can see, we just can't decide where to go.

# 2 Siquijor, Philippines
The small island of Siquijor in the Philippines simply enchanted us and so it is currently number 2 here. If you had asked us what our dream island looks like, we would have described the island of Siquijor to you without even knowing it .
Endless sandy beaches, almost no cars, great people, the most beautiful sunsets of all and still relatively few tourists - huh, we actually want to go straight back.

# 3 New York
We love New York! If you've read our About Us page, you know that Jenny lived there for a year after graduating from high school. Since then, the city has burned itself deeply into her heart.
In 2018 we were the first in town together, we felt very much at home there and decided to stop by at least once a year from now on. Sounds ambitious, doesn't it? Let's see if we can do it.
If you've never been to New York, we warmly recommend you visit the city. If you love cities, you will love New York.
And if you've been to New York before, we can tell you: The city is always worth a trip and New York changes every day and you'll be amazed at all the new things to discover on your next visit.

# 4 Berlin
Berlin should of course not be missing on our list, because this, for us very special city, has been our home since 2009. The city drives you crazy sometimes, but at least as often, it puts a smile on our faces.
We met in Berlin, spent way too hot summers and way too cold winters together. There we decided on a gray October evening to completely turn our lives upside down in order to be able to work and live from anywhere in the world.
And yet, when we arrive at Berlin Airport, get on the S-Bahn and the Berliners are simply Berliners, we know that we are at home.

# 5 Wolf on the Moselle & Erfurt
We have assigned two locations to No. 5: Our hometowns, which are simply beautiful.
Jenny comes from Wolf, a small, tranquil village with 800 inhabitants on the Moselle. Surrounded by vineyards, lots of idyll and even more vineyards.
It is wonderfully tranquil here and we always like to come back and enjoy the peace and quiet and the great landscape. And of course the wine. And Gräwes (mashed potatoes + sauerkraut), wild boar sausage and spit roast.
Basti comes from Erfurt, one of the most underrated cities of all. The old town is just gorgeous, there is a very lively cultural scene, the most beautiful Christmas market in Germany and the best football club in the world. What more do you want?

# 6 Vienna
Vienna was the big surprise in our travel year 2017. The city had been on our list for a long time and we had already adjusted to the fact that Vienna is a very beautiful city.
We did not expect that the city would cast a spell over us. Vienna is not only incredibly worth seeing, the city also makes an extremely livable impression on us. We could really imagine moving in there.

# 7 Japan
Japan really blew us away too. There you really feel like you are in a different world and every day is a new experience.
Here, too, we couldn't decide on a specific place and without further ado we put the whole country on our list of the most beautiful places in the world.
There is so much to discover in Japan: the huge metropolis Tokyo, the historic city of Kyoto, the surprising Osaka or the impressive Hiroshima. Japan is diverse and definitely a trip to anyone.

# 8 Karijini National Park
We were deeply impressed by the Karijini National Park in Western Australia. To be honest, we were really excited about Western Australia in general.
Goosebumps are already spreading while writing and we would like to beam ourselves back there immediately. We both agree that our visit to the national park was not the last.
Seldom has a landscape made such a lasting impression on us: deep red rock, deep gorges, dreamy sunsets, a breathtaking starry sky and above all so much "nothing".
Pete West, our guide in the Karjini National Park told us "We love this piece of earth for everything that is not here". To understand that, you have to visit this amazing place yourself!

# 9 Lisbon
Lisbon shouldn't be missing from our list. We just couldn't decide on a specific place in the city, because it's the atmosphere and the flair that make Lisbon something special for us.
We spent a whole month in Lisbon and let the spring in the city enchant us.

# 10 Festival of Lights in Chiang Mai, Thailand
We are always drawn to Chiang Mai in the winter months. We feel at home there now. It goes without saying that the city in northern Thailand has to be on our list.
Chiang Mai is particularly impressive in November when the Thais celebrate the Festival of Lights there. The entire city is in a state of emergency and thousands of small hot air balloons rise into the sky.
A spectacle that we of course cannot miss when we are here.

# 11 Budapest
Budapest is still a bit in the shadow of the metropolises in Western Europe. For us, Budapest is definitely one of the most beautiful cities in Europe.
Similar to Vienna, Budapest is an absolute architectural highlight. Crumbling facades have their charm. But what we especially love about Budapest is its creative scene! The city is also one of our top destinations for a city break in Europe.

# 12 Istanbul
Oh, Istanbul. One of our first trips together took us to this wonderful city and we would love to return there again soon.
Unfortunately, the political situation in Turkey has not necessarily improved since our trip. But the city still deserves a place on the list!

# 13 Koh Kho Khao
We discovered the small island of Koh Kho Khao in western Thailand by chance in 2017. We were looking for a not so touristic island with a nice beach and tranquility. We just wanted a place where we could really relax.
We found this place on Koh Kho Khao. There is absolutely nothing to do here, except to enjoy the peace and quiet and the wonderful surroundings. Dreamlike!

# 14 Rod Fai Market, Bangkok, Thailand
We love markets and we love Bangkok. We came across the Rod Fai (translated Train Market) by chance in 2015 and have been there at least once on each of our Bangkok stays since then.
The Rod Fai Market is a healthy mix of nightlife and a food, design and clothing market. It is difficult to explain why we were so enchanted by a market in Bangkok and that is why we strongly advise you to stop by for yourself.
When we drink an ice-cold beer on the roof of one of the container bars, enjoy the many delicacies from the market and watch the hustle and bustle in the aisles, the world is just fine.

# 15 Hong Kong
We ended up in Hong Kong for the second time in 2017 and it was definitely not the last time. The city is just amazing, there is so much to discover and so much delicious food to try that a single visit is never enough.
Did we mention the delicious food? Oh yes, do we? Damn it. Now we're hungry for dim sums.

# 16 Singapore
And another Asian city made it onto our list of the most beautiful places in the world: Singapore.
Singapore has a bit of a reputation for lacking flair. But we didn't think so. Sure, compared to Bangkok or Hong Kong, Singapore is already very spruced up. Still, the city is by no means sterile or boring. It's also a foodie's paradise, by the way!
We like Singapore and love to come back again and again.

# 17 Midsummer in Stockholm
We didn't even have Stockholm on our list for a long time until we recently went on a Scandinavian trip to the far north. Lo and behold: Stockholm is an absolutely wonderful city.
Everything there is simply beautiful: the buildings, the abundance of water, the many green spaces, the people. Stockholm is simply a city to feel good about and we could very well imagine living there.
Now comes the big but: in Stockholm the winters are long, cold and dark and we two are sun children. Therefore Stockholm will not be our home after all, but Stockholm at midsummer time is simply a dream!

# 18 The Åland Islands
Yes, the Åland Islands. Which islands please? Even as a travel blogger, you still have a lot to learn. In fact, we had never heard of the Åland Islands before. Now we are smarter and know that the 6,700 islands between Sweden and Finland are called that. Perhaps we should add that only 69 of the 6,700 islands are inhabited.
Sounds exciting, doesn't it? It is! Not only the islands, but also the Ålanders made a big impression on us and so the Åland Islands made it to number 18 on our list.

# 19 Sunrise over the Chocolate Hills in Bohol, Philippines
In the middle of the Philippine island of Bohol there are over 1,700 chocolate hills. No, of course they're not really made of chocolate (it would be really cool, wouldn't it), they are just brown in color.
Usually we don't have to get up early, but to photograph these chocolate hills during sunrise, we hopped out of bed at 5:00 a.m.
Even during the day, the view over this natural spectacle is very impressive. Watching the landscape all by yourself at sunrise is simply breathtaking!

# 20 The night sky over Jasper National Park
As you can see, we not only love cities but also great landscapes. There are plenty of them in Canada. On our trip through the state of Alberta, we first went through Banff National Park and then via the famous Icefields Parkway to Jasper.
There we not only saw great landscapes, but even moose (yes!) And a night sky that we will not soon forget.
The stars over Jasper are definitely some of the most impressive we have seen so far and are therefore absolutely right on this list.

# 21 Tallinn
The Estonian capital Tallinn is a wonderful place, especially in summer. The historic old town is beautiful and at the same time Tallinn is one of the most modern cities we know.
In general, Estonia is an absolutely progressive country.Internet is a fundamental right here and there is free and high-speed Internet everywhere in Tallinn. We think Tallinn deserves a place on our list for that alone.

# 22 Amsterdam
Amsterdam is such a city that actually always goes. We have been there very often and still like to go back again and again. In addition to the tourist classics, it is above all the districts outside the immediate city center that we particularly like.
And by the way: other cities in Holland are also worth a visit, Utrecht and Rotterdam for example. We think Holland is a great country in general.
Jenny lived there for almost 4 years and Basti constantly raves about how great Holland, the Dutch and actually everything is (ok, everything except the weather). Maybe we will move to our neighboring country later!
