What happened when paper was heated

Experiment 8:
Incombustible paper

"Can I heat water in a paper bag?"

You need:

1 sheet of paper or 1 paper cup
1 solid wire ring

1 candle, water

You do that:Cut a circle out of the piece of paper. Fold the circle into a mug (or use the finished mug). Light the candle. Bend the wire into a ring with a holder. Fill the paper cup with water, quickly attach it (before it becomes soggy) to the wire ring, and hold it over the lit candle.

Result and explanation:

The fire of the candle cannot light the paper because the water in the mug immediately dissipates the heat from the paper. In this way, the water in the cup gets warmer and warmer over time, without the paper starting to burn.
