Is Tom Cruise athletic
Super sports cars, SUVs and classic cars: this is Tom Cruise's fleet
"Top Gun 2: Maverick", the sequel to the cult classic from 1986, will be out in just under a year. The original "Top Gun" is undoubtedly one of the iconic films of the eighties and sealed Tom Cruise's rise to superstar. Apparently, the theatrical release was delayed by a year because producers and actors wanted to work more sophisticated on the flight sequences and new technologies. (Read here: Finally! The first trailer for "Top Gun 2: Maverick" is here!)
Until Tom "Maverick" Cruise once again amazes everyone with his jet flying skills, GQ takes a closer look at his private vehicle fleet: its car collection includes rare models and traditional luxury bodies that make the heart of every car lover beat faster .
The most massive of the signature sedans from BMW impresses with its comfort. When you're a father like Tom Cruise and have several children, you can't always whiz around in a fast sports car. The BMW 7 is the perfect family carriage and a model that leaves nothing to be desired: a spacious interior meets the greatest possible driving pleasure thanks to an optional V12 engine. Of course, Tom Cruise drives the BMW 7 in the best possible and most expensive equipment.
Of course, Cruise can also be fast. Also in his possession: the Bugatti Veyron, one of the most expensive cars in the world. Chapeau! The long development time for the luxury sports car has paid off: The Bugatti Veyron is now considered to be the Car of the noughties.
Tom Cruise can call himself the proud owner of a one hundred percent original model. The sports car is unique in its class and a pioneering luxury car, which is why millionaires around the world appreciate it so much. In addition to Tom Cruise, Jay-Z, Simon Cowell and Chris Brown were spotted behind the wheel of the luxury athlete in Los Angeles. (Also interesting: this is the most expensive car in the world)
But Tom Cruise also loves classic cars. For this reason, his fleet includes a Buick Roadmaster from 1949. The classic car is known for its luxurious interior and its powerful engine, which rests on the largest Buick chassis, and its basic characteristics with the Oldsmobile from the Buick racing team Splits. Cruise drives his model very often and is cared for to perfection.
The Cadillac Escalade is one of the best-selling SUVs in the world. Manufacturer General Motors made it very important that no other car could compete with this model in its class. Tom Cruise drives a black Escalade that can comfortably accommodate up to seven people. (Car subscription: "Book by Cadillac" offers US sledges as a monthly subscription)
Chevrolet Corvette C1
The huge success of the racing drama "Tage des Donners" from 1990 with Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman in the leading roles did not only pay off at the box office. General Motors and its NASCAR department, which in the same year brought the new Chevrolet Lumina onto the market and, above all, to the North American racetracks, also benefited from the huge success.
For this reason alone, it is not surprising that Tom Cruise owns a Chevrolet Corvette C1 from the GM racing team: This generation of the Corvette is known for its rigid axle. In addition, the C1 is considered to be the best-selling sports car between 1955 and 1963. The racing fun is not exactly cheap: The cost of a Corvette C1 is also in the top price segment for collectors - reserved for Hollywood stars like Tom Cruise.
Ford Mustang Saleen S281
This Ford Mustang is unique in its sports car class, as there are only very few examples of it left in the world these days. The Saleen S281 is a variant of the classic Ford Mustang, made for the US automaker Saleen, which was sold in 2005. (Did you know? This is the most powerful Mustang ever)
The body of the Saleen S281 differs significantly from that of the classic Mustang, so that it cannot be confused with the iconic Ford model. Tom Cruise drives this car when he wants to stand out and not disappear in the crowd.
Tom Cruise also owns iconic sports cars, including a Porsche 928 from 1979. This Porsche model has enjoyed cult status since the 1983 film "Scarface" at the latest. At the same time, the Porsche 928 is a perfect example of how desirable the avant-garde sports cars of the 1980s have been from the brand introduction to the present day. The 928 is an incomparably beautiful example (with an unmistakable V8 engine) of the automotive art of the Stuttgart Porsche Manufactory.
Finally, a German best seller. A superstar like Tom Cruise not only has limousines, SUVs or classic cars, but sometimes also a sleek coupé - surprise!
This classic two-door coupe model is the best-selling Mercedes car in the United States. The V8 engine ensures gliding driving pleasure and at the same time equips the CLK with enough power for sporty style. The handling of the Coupé model from Mercedes is perfect - something that cannot always be said of other two-door models in this price range.
