The training at the bwd Informatikmittelschule (bwd IMS) includes the school path to a professional qualification, i.e. it combines in-depth general education at the professional baccalaureate level with the in-company training content necessary for the acquisition of the "Federal Certificate of Competency in Computer Science Specializing in Application Development" (or in short: EFZ) are required. After three years of school training, a full year in an internship company follows.
The “IT skills” are mainly acquired at the Bern gibb commercial-industrial vocational school and the three school years, with the exception of individual practical work (IPA), are completed through the qualification process (QV = final exams). The IPA is completed in the internship company towards the end of the long-term internship. There will be no more lessons during the internship.

The basic area of ​​this orientation includes the language subjects, mathematics and the business subjects “Economics and Law” and “Finance and Accounting”.
