How to play YouTube videos automatically

YouTube: Switch off autoplay - this is how it works in the app

If you go to the start page of the YouTube app, the video shown above will be played automatically. If you scroll through the start area, further videos will be played on their own. If the function bothers you, switch off the autoplay in the YouTube app.

When you have finished watching a video, a new clip will also play automatically. This independent playback can also be switched off.

Prevent autoplay on the home page

If you want to switch off the autoplay in your YouTube feed in the app, proceed as follows:

  1. Press your profile pic top right.
  2. Open the Settings.
  3. Control the area Generally at.
  4. Switch to the section Muted playback in feeds.
  5. Make the setting you want.

YouTube: Switch off autoplay for new videos

If you want to prevent a new video from starting as soon as the current playback has ended, proceed as follows:

  1. In the app, tap your in the top right corner profile pic.
  2. Select the in the menu Settings out.

  4. Slide the slider to the left.

By default, autoplay playback is deactivated in a mobile data network so that your limited data volume is not accidentally emptied by endless playback.
