Manage discounts

Discounts are a powerful marketing tool that you can use for a variety of purposes. With discounts you can create purchase incentives for your shop visitors and thus increase your sales. For example, you can offer seasonal sales or highlight products that are difficult to sell. For more ideas on how to use discounts, please read theExample scenarios further down.

Assigned to products

The discount is applied to the price of each product to which the discount is assigned. When this discount type is selected, a new tab appears in the product configuration area, where you can choose from all discounts of this type and assign them to the product. A link to the assigned products is displayed below the discount type field. In the product detail view in the front end, the normal price now appears crossed out, and a new, discounted price is highlighted next to it.


Based on the categories

The discount is applied to the price of each product in the product group to which this discount is assigned. If this discount type is selected, a new tab appears in the configuration area of ​​product groups, in which you can choose from all discounts of this type and assign them to a product group. A link to the assigned product groups is displayed below the discount type field. In the product detail view of your shop, the normal price is now crossed out and the new, discounted price is displayed above it in bold.


Based on the subtotal

The discount is applied to the subtotal (excluding shipping and payment fees) and is shown in the shopping cart summary.


Based on the shipping costsThe discount is applied to all shipping costs that are displayed to the customer.
Based on the total

The discount is applied to the total amount of the order and is displayed on the order confirmation page (last page of the checkout process) after the customer has selected the payment method and the shipping method (the total amount includes shipping costs and payment method fees).


As a percentage

Determines whether the value is applied as a percentage or as a fixed value.
Discount in% / discount amountThe percentage or the discount amount to be applied as a discount.
Start dateThe starting date for the discount to be valid.
End dateThe end date for the discount to be valid.
Coupon code requiredRequires the customer to provide a voucher code for the discount to be applied.
Coupon CodeThe voucher number. For more information on coupon codes, please read the description below this table.
validity

The validity of a discount allows you to set a limit for the application of the discount. You can specify how often a voucher code can be used by your customers, either globally or specifically (e.g. per customer). You can also allow unlimited use of the vouchers.

  • Unlimited: Unlimited use of a voucher code
  • Only N times: The voucher code is only allowed N times are applied.
  • N times per user: The voucher code is only allowed N times to be applied per customer.
N timesThe number of times a discount can be used by your customers.

Use voucher codes

Voucher codes allow you to send your customers codes that they can enter during the checkout process in order to save on their purchases. In this way you can create attractive incentives to buy. Voucher codes can be freely set for each discount created.

The customer must be assigned to a customer group

This discount is only applied if the customer is assigned to the defined customer group. If those requirement is activated, a drop-down list appears below the requirement, from which you can select the associated customer group. To add several customer groups, you have to add one for each customer group for which you want to define a requirement for the discount requirement Add.

Country of billing address isThe discount is only applied if the customer has specified the defined country in the billing address. If those requirement is activated, a drop-down list appears below the requirement, from which you can select the country of the billing address. To add multiple countries, you need to have one for each of the countries requirement for the discount add.
Country of delivery address isThe discount is only applied if the customer has specified the defined country in the delivery address. Customer has one of the following products in their shopping cart

The discount will only be applied if one of the specified products is in the customer's shopping cart. If those requirement has been activated, specify the products that go with the requirement by entering a list of product IDs separated by commas (e.g. 77, 123, 156) in the field below. You can find the product number on the relevant product processing page. You can add quantities to the comma-separated list of product numbers ({product number}: {quantity}, e.g. 77: 1, 123: 2, 156: 3). It is also possible to specify a range ({product number}: {minimum quantity} - {maximum quantity}, e.g. 77: 1-3, 123: 2-5, 156: 3-8).

Customer has the following products in their shopping cartThe discount will only be applied if the customer has all of the specified products in the shopping cart. If those requirement has been activated, specify the products that go with the requirement by entering a list of product numbers separated by commas (e.g. 77, 123, 156) in the field below. You can find the product number on the relevant product processing page. Customer spent amount xThe discount is applied when the customer has spent the specified amount.
Limited to certain shop

The discount is only applied when the customer purchases products from the specified shop. If those requirement is selected, a drop-down list appears below the requirement, from which you can select the respective shop. If you want to add multiple stores, you need to have one requirement for each of the shops for which the discount is to apply.

Customer has selected a certain payment methodThe discount will only be applied if the customer chooses the specified payment method. If those requirement is selected, a drop-down list appears below the requirement, from which you can select the respective payment method.
Customer has selected certain shipping methodThe discount will only be applied if the customer chooses the specified shipping method. If those requirement is selected, a drop-down list appears below the requirement, from which you can select the respective shipping method.
The customer has already bought one of the following productsThe discount will only be applied if the customer has previously purchased one of the specified products. If those requirement is selected, enter below the requirement a comma-separated list of product numbers (e.g. 77, 123, 156). You can find the product numbers on the processing page for the respective product.
Customer has already bought the following productsThe discount will only be applied if the customer has previously purchased all of the following products. If those requirement is selected, enter below the requirement a comma-separated list of product numbers (e.g. 77, 123, 15). You can find the product numbers on the processing page for the respective product.

In the Usage Log tab you can see a list of the orders to which the discount has been applied.

Example scenarios

General discounts for products & product groups for different customer groups

You may have customer groups such as resellers and would like to give them a special discount on certain products or entire product categories. Special discounts for customers who have reached a certain order amount

You can motivate your customers to buy as much as possible by offering a discount for orders above a certain amount.
