  • Hello,
has someone already ordered fabrics or the like there? If so, do I have to expect extra costs (customs) and how do I pay there?
    Best regards

I haven't ordered it yet, but up to a value of $ 200 you pay $ 25 shipping, which is a good price for the amount of fabric.

As always, customs are only incurred from an invoice amount of € 150 (including shipping costs!) And you have to add 19% VAT from € 22 to € 149.99 (each including shipping costs).
This is not included in the prices quoted.

  • I order there regularly, and despite the high postage and import sales tax, patchwork fabrics are so much cheaper there than in Germany that it is always worthwhile.

So far, I had to pick up every delivery from customs because they NEVER stick the invoice on the outside.

The "additional costs" arise as follows (the euros are always order value including postage, i.e. TOTAL INVOICE VALUE):

    1-22 €: no additional costs
22-150: import sales tax (19%, same as VAT)
150 - ....: Import sales tax PLUS customs (customs depending on the type of goods)

I usually order around 10m of fabric, like plain colors for backgrounds in patchwork, and then a ruler or something to go with it. Total costs usually around 60 €, with customs another 19% on top.

A lot of fabrics from the USA are just not easy to get here, so I order there quite often (and if I'm lucky, someone can bring it to Germany, so that postage and customs are not an issue ...), Of course, on vacation I also go there ...

    Greeting,
    Bianca

PS: From time to time they have cheaper postage as a daily deal. H. $ 15 instead of $ 25

So I haven't seen any fabrics there for under $ 4 or less.

The fabrics are not that cheap. Perhaps interesting if you want unusual fabrics.
The prices are per yard. Most basics and other fabrics around $ 10. That means, if I calculate correctly about € 9.60 per m. Then the postage costs, if I calculate the inexpensive € 15, I am at € 10.50. Then you can order almost 13 m of fabric if you want to stay below the value of € 149.99. Add to that the import sales tax, and I'm at a price of € 12.50. Everything about prices. And as I said, I hope that I didn't make a calculation error .;) Then there is the drive to the customs office.

With the low savings, I prefer to support the trade here in Germany with my purchase. b. Basics also no more than 14 €.

So I only really save if I buy large quantities, then the shipping price, import sales tax / customs are put into perspective.

  • So I ordered a quilt pack in the USA including fabrics and backing for about 220 €. At customs, another € 65 was incurred, consisting of VAT and customs duty. So the total price was too expensive! Especially since the taxation at customs seemed a little arbitrary to me, as I had to explain to the customs officer what kind of fabric it was, what type of weave and how it was dyed! I could have said something completely different, he had no idea! And to identify something on the basis of regulations that you don't even know was somehow not the solution! In the end, I could have bought here for the price and the trappings would have been easier! LG Uelli
Oh well, forgot: a trader who also orders in the USA said to me that it is only worthwhile for her to order from an order value of 1000 € and I believe that without further ado.

  • Hello

there is also the long delivery time. I only ordered there again myself, because the stencils are only available there (these are in-house productions). I've waited 3 months!

BTW - I'm in negotiations with Jenny and may soon offer her stencils, i.e. these in-house productions, exclusively for Europe in my shop

    Kind regards, Jennifer

71.40 for 10 yards of fabric, a ruler and inches? + in the worst case 25 euros postage. Did I understand that correctly? That's all including a meter price of just under 10, - / m for fabrics that you can't get here. That's really a super cheap price.

  • Hello,
I don't think it's worth ordering for me.
I had fallen in love with these instructions and the fabric as a layer cake and the ruler (stencil) are only available there.

They have very nice layer cakes for these quilts.
    I will choose something else.
Thanks for your answers with the hints

Um, to be precise, the last delivery was € 72.23, including postage and import sales tax.

The fabric here costs € 18.50 / m, the ruler € 17.95, together everything here would have cost € 202.95

In total, this results in a saving of € 130.72.

I can't quite understand what is being cynically commented on (I already wrote above clearly that my price quotation was total costs, including postage!) .....

  • That wasn't meant cynically. I'm just always looking for cheap ways to buy fabric and if I have to make it over 20, - long for 90/110 cm wide fabric, then that would be a super cheap alternative. I would be willing to wait 2-3 weeks.

Woh ... then you made a great bargain. At 10 m, that's a price of around € 3. I've never seen such a snapper there.

  • Andrea: In this case (at the end of December) the euro was in a much better position Yard price was $ 5.95 from 10 yards (I had 11), the ruler was really cheaper than anywhere else, and postage was deal of the day ...

But I actually look in there almost every day to find bargains, especially because at the moment I can have things sent back to the USA and the things can then be brought to me by the next exchange student (since Birch fabrics are my current passion, it will probably be amount to Fabrikworm) ...
