Soda Gembira, the oldest mocktails in Indonesia

We are all with Soda Gembira grew up, our parents too, and maybe our grandparents too. Perhaps Soda Gembira is the oldest mocktails (cocktails without alcohol) in Indonesia.

On every corner in Indonesia there are little carts selling Gembira soda. The kids especially love this drink.

Soda Gembira (Happy Soda) is a mixture of Sprite or soda water with sweetened condensed milk and red food coloring.
It doesn't matter how you do it, or how much is the amount of ingredients, in the end Soda Gembira has to be sweet, fizzy and always pink in color. Without a pink color, it is not called a soda gembira.

Here is my Soda Gembira recipe .....

Ingredients:
  • 250 ml Sprite Zero
  • 4 to 6 tablespoons of sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 drop of red food coloring
  • Ice cubes (optional)

Preparation:
  • Mix all ingredients in a large glass and serve immediately.
