Should all of Africa become one country

Africa trip despite Corona: Holidays are possible in these countries

With 55 states, Africa has the most countries on all continents - and many have reopened their borders despite the Covid 19 pandemic, including for travelers from Germany. However, a travel warning from the Federal Foreign Office still applies to almost all countries in Africa - travelers should therefore take care of insurance in advance that applies despite the travel warning.

Only two countries are not classified as risk areas: Uganda and Rwanda. But the good news: the new entry regulations, which came into force on May 13th, mean that many countries on the list of risk areas can now also be visited completely quarantine-free. We have the overview.

Africa vacation with quarantine on return to Germany

In Germany there are different classifications with regard to the risk status of a country or a region. On the one hand there are the non-risk areas for which no travel warning applies; and countries with a seven-day incidence above 50 that are considered risk areas. The quarantine does not apply to both of them when they return to Germany.

When returning from high-incidence areas (regions with a seven-day incidence over 200), quarantine may apply. Travelers must take a corona test 48 (rapid antigen test) or 72 hours (PCR test) before returning and are usually in quarantine for ten days afterwards. The quarantine can be shortened to five days in most federal states if there is another negative corona test.

People who are fully vaccinated and whose second vaccination was at least 14 days ago, as well as people who were infected with Corona in the past six months and are considered cured, are exempt from the obligation to quarantine.
