What is used to measure the thickness

Thickness measurement is a broad field of application in production monitoring, quality assurance and machine control. The measuring methods used by Micro-Epsilon are free from isotope radiation, which means that no radiation regulations have to be complied with. The thickness measurements can be carried out with both contact and non-contact sensors, with non-contact measuring methods offering advantages in terms of accuracy and measuring speed.
One-sided thickness measurements are only to be carried out with non-contact sensors. The measurement object is measured with just one sensor and either only part of the measurement object thickness (e.g. layer thickness) or the entire measurement object thickness is recorded.
Two-sided thickness measurements are carried out with at least one pair of sensors that are mounted in an axis to each other. This pair of sensors measures synchronously on the measurement object. The difference between the individual measurement results (C-A-B) gives the measurement object thickness.
