Theories and Methods in Social Sciences

Introduction

Basic theoretical insights in the social sciences are after
explained in a uniform scheme and in terms of both methodology and content
Subjected to criticism. Eight theories on the foundations of the social sciences fall under it, including: the Weber-Merton hypothesis on the influence of Protestantism on modern science, Kuhn's theory of scientific revolutions, the self-fulfilling prophecy, and the Hawthorne effect. There are also seven theories from different disciplines of the
Social sciences, including: the "invisible hand" of Adam Smith, the
isolated state of Thünens, the tragedy of the commons and the
Durkheim's Suicide Hypothesis. Outline the introduction and the final chapter
the project and the theoretical and methodological issues raised with it
