What are some common misconceptions about neuroplasticity

Neuroplasticity, NLP, and the power of our thoughts

Research (including by Bruce Lipton) has shown that it is not genes that determine who we are, but that 95% of our identity comes from unconscious patterns (neurological connections) in our brain. Many of the characteristics of our behavior are purely ingrained programming in the brain. They are neurological connections that are made throughout your life.

These neurological connections formed most strongly in the first 6 years of life. Our brains then work at very low frequencies so that we absorb everything we see / experience / feel / perceive etc.

You can often hear you say that genes are to blame for who they are, but that is only to a very limited extent.

You can see your brain as a computer that is slowly being programmed every day. You can also call it habituation or pattern. These patterns (programming) rooted in the brain are stored in our subconscious and are therefore carried out unconsciously. This is to prevent us from having to learn everything over and over again every day. 95% of our actions are based on these unconscious patterns that the brain carries out. 5% of our actions are conscious actions!

However, research over the past few years has shown that we can alter these patterns in our own brain to create new neurological connections. This is due to the Neuroplasticity of our brain, with neuroplasticity it is meant that our brain is neuroplastic and can therefore constantly enter into new neurological connections. This training of the brain works with NLP (Neurolinguistic Programmer.

Helpful and unhelpful neurological connections

In everyday life, these ingrained patterns can be both helpful and unhelpful. In the case of helpful patterns you will feel comfortable and confident and stable, in the case of unhelpful patterns in the brain you will under certain circumstances feel uncomfortable because the brain has unconsciously learned to react in a way that you may not like at all.

Like social fears, for example. Your brain will then unconsciously react anxiously when it comes near people. With NLP you train your brain to react "normally" again in such a situation. You know that your fear is unfounded. But as long as your subconscious is using a negative pattern, you will continue to experience the fear and experience the same bothersome symptoms over and over again. This also applies to many other complaints and disorders than just social anxiety. Usually, you experience this discomfort through a negative experience in your past.

But you don't want to be plagued by a negative past experience with annoying ailments that keep you from feeling good for the rest of your life, do you?

Character properties based on neurological relationships

Examples are: recurring uncomfortable feelings during certain activities or, on the contrary, enormous self-confidence. Fear of failure, gloom, fatigue, etc., etc., etc.

But also your behavior: do you react in a friendly or cute manner, are you enthusiastic or cool, self-confident or insecure etc. etc. etc.

For example, your interest in things and what you do and don't like. There are thousands of other examples.

But because of the Neuroplasticity of the brain, you can influence it a lot yourself, and unhelpful patterns can make you feel much better. You may now think that everything you experience and feel is what you are, but that is only partially true. Your genes only play a very small role in this.

NLP (Neurolinguistic Programming)

With the help of Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP), which takes advantage of the neuroplasticity of the brain, we can safely and completely naturally "rewire" our brain by adopting new beliefs and ideas.

With your own inner strength you have the incredible ability to positively change yourself, but also to heal annoying ailments, for example, so that you can exert a lot of influence on yourself to feel more comfortable and to get the best out of your brain.

Neuroplasticity and mental disorders (brain trauma)

Lots mental illness by training this neuroplasticity away from the brain. These are stuck beliefs and patterns in the brain that are then unconsciously carried out by the brain on a daily basis. Many of these patterns emerge as early as a baby's first few weeks of life.

Unaware of this neuroplasticity, many therapists and psychiatrists view abnormal behavior as a disorder and like to label certain behaviors. For example, they know what drugs can be given to suppress the symptoms and symptoms, but they are not aware that they can solve these problems on their own because our brain is neuroplastic.

You can't paint everything away like a mess. It's often an unhelpful pattern in the brain that has evolved over the years during your development. It makes you act like you do. It is not a disease or illness. Or rather, a "brain trauma". Of course, it is not the case that every disorder caused by NLP can be trained away, but many ailments and limitations in people are purely negative patterns in the brain.

You may sometimes wonder why this happens all the time, why do I or someone else always react like this, why I often fail, why I am often tired, why do I have social anxieties, why am I often so depressed, why am I the way I am I am, why do I sometimes have negative or uncomfortable feelings, why do I have negative thoughts so often etc. etc. etc.

So it all has to do with how you develop and what influences the environment has on you in the course of your life. This has created these neurological connections in your brain that can have a very negative impact on your life and cause you discomfort. This has a significant impact on how you behave and how you feel. You don't have to label it, but you have to train yourself effectively to solve it.

Helpful / successful neurology

Successful people with ADHD and ADD symptoms, in many cases, will not receive the label, but can often identify to a high degree with the features of the label. Fortunately, these people don't mind because they have found their calling. You have a positively developed brain with a lot of helpful neurology. This in turn ensures that the ADHD / ADD brain is used to the maximum and that you can express its power. People will see you as an inspiring personality. Someone who can achieve many great and beautiful things. I think that's what AD (H) D'ers are made for on this planet.

Will Smith was diagnosed with ADHD when he was young along with many other celebrities. Stars with ADD and ADHD traitsNevertheless, he has achieved a lot that can be directly attributed to the development of a positive and capable helpful brain.

People with the AD (H) D brain have special qualities and can create special things. You just have to start realizing this and you will have to stop focusing on your AD (H) D symptoms and unhelpful patterns in the brain, you will have to bend yourself to positive helpful patterns. You have to choose whether to use your genius in a helpful or unhelpful manner.

This is exactly the reason why some people with AD (H) D are incredibly successful and others try to survive day in, day out, need medication because otherwise they get stuck and keep changing jobs because they cannot find their way around. Then you have lost touch with yourself and become entangled in unhelpful patterns and beliefs that can make life incredibly difficult for you. That's why you keep falling down!

Not helpful / unsuccessful neurology

Inappropriate beliefs and patterns usually emerge at an early age. Maybe you just didn't fit in because of the current school system. Read more about this on the page Living with ADD / ADHD in society.

This is a shame when you consider what people with ADD / ADHD brains are capable of and that these patterns are actually easy to change with NLP.

We are made to achieve great things, we don't think small, we can change the world. We look for interesting things, for thrills, for things that allow our brains to connect with this huge wave of passion and creative energy that is hidden within us. This is what calms us down, our soul cries out for more. Just think of the story of the eagle.

Neurological connections determine your identity

Your thoughts and underlying beliefs literally create your own reality. It determines your position in this world and how you look at things and people and deal with them. This is called your identity, but you can influence it for the rest of your life.

Because our brain is neuroplastic, we can influence ourselves by changing our beliefs and thoughts. A belief is actually nothing more than a certain pattern that has arisen through thoughts about something and through certain experiences over the years. For example, this can lead to fear of something and someone else not. But it can also be that one has an opinion about something that is not true at all. If only because the brain makes you believe that this is the truth.

Neuroplasticity and AD (H) D

Unfortunately, people with what is known as the AD (H) D brain are at high risk of developing unhelpful patterns and beliefs in the brain. Patterns that make life difficult, because we have often had to endure a lot, such as: misunderstandings, the feeling of being different, not belonging, criticism, getting stuck, failure, etc.

This can cause low self-esteem and all kinds of unconscious patterns and beliefs in the brain that can make life extremely difficult for you in everyday life. In doing so, you create a neurology in the brain that creates a reality for yourself that cannot be pleasant at all.

If you are aware of this and do not defend yourself against it, but look at something from a completely different point of view, then you are already training new neurology in the brain and taking advantage of the neuroplasticity of our brain. They then turn unhelpful patterns into helpful ones. It's faster than you think. At first it will be trial and error, but after a while you will find that things that you initially found very difficult or scary are suddenly a lot easier for you.

Overview of neuroplasticity

The brain is actually a computer that is programmed unconsciously day in and day out. These programs are known as patterns in the brain and, among other things, determine how we behave and feel. These patterns (programming), which are anchored in the unconscious brain, are carried out unconsciously. Because that way we don't have to learn everything anew every day.

95% of our daily actions and behaviors are based on patterns from the unconscious brain. However, 5% of our actions are conscious actions!

There may be patterns in the unconscious brain that have developed in neurology that are not helpful to you. Often these are patterns that are deeply eroded and developed at a young age. This can cause a lot of difficulties in everyday life. It can cause a lot of conflict about relationships, friends, work, everyday things, and so on. Be aware of that. For example, know that if you react to something that you or possibly those around you do not like, you can train yourself directly on a positive, helpful pattern that will make you feel less conflicted and feel better. Our thoughts and beliefs constantly determine the neurological relationships in the brain and thus our own reality. That's because our brain is neuroplastic. We drop this under the denominator of “neuroplasticity.” Everyone has the opportunity to harness this power.

It is our inner strength that enables us to "rewire" our brains to come into life differently.

This is known as neurolinguistic programming (NLP) and is possible because the power of our own thoughts creates neurological connections. It's actually very simple. It won't get you attention or the energy will increase. So if you focus on something negative, it will only make it worse, and at the same time, new neurological connections will be created in your brain that will only reinforce the pattern. So they only feed the emotions! This is how your identity is formed, but it may be an identity that you don't like at all.

It makes a lot of sense to realize that people with their mindset and beliefs have a huge impact on how they behave and how they feel.

So you don't have to feel the way you feel. At least if you find it bothersome, you can look at something differently. As you practice this several times, you will find that it becomes easier for you. Your brain will then create a new neurology. This is exactly how you let your subconscious create neurology. You have a direct influence on it with your conscious brain.

But the brain doesn't like change, so it is difficult to transform a negative pattern into a positive one at first. The unconscious will always try to bring you back to the "old" way of acting ... the path of least resistance.
