Educational Technology Handbook

The manual provides a comprehensive overview of the current state of knowledge on approaches and findings for the systematic design of learning environments in German. It presents theoretical and methodological foundations of the research discipline educational technology and also provides concrete considerations as to how these scientific foundations can be implemented in practical teaching-learning contexts. In addition to the systematic conception of learning opportunities (instructional design), another focus is on the use of current information and communication technology, especially digital, interactive media in education.

Univ.-Prof. Dr. Helmut Niegemann held the chair “Learning and New Media” at the University of Erfurt. Previously, he taught and researched at the TU Ilmenau, the University of Tübingen (DIFF), the TU Darmstadt and the University of Mannheim. He is honorary professor at Saarland University (educational technology) and senior professor at J.W. Goethe University Frankfurt (business education).

Univ.-Prof. Dr. Armin Weinberger is the founder and holder of the chair for educational technology and knowledge management at Saarland University. Before that, he taught and researched at the Chair for Instructional Technology at the University of Twente in the Netherlands, the LMU Munich and the Institute for Knowledge Media in Tübingen.
