  • You can buy prepaid credit cards at gas stations and supermarkets.
  • No name is printed on the cards, but you cannot really remain anonymous.
  • There are numerous fees for the cards. The takeaway cards are therefore only worthwhile for very few.
  • If you need a credit card, you should first try to get a real card.
  • If your credit rating is insufficient, we recommend prepaid credit cards with lower fees.

Buy a credit card just like that? This works with special prepaid cards. You can get them at gas stations and in supermarkets. You do not have to give your name, but you cannot remain anonymous.

What is behind the anonymous cards?

Usually you apply for a credit card at a bank. This asks for your personal data and usually also checks the Schufa entries. That is understandable, because the bank wants to know who it is dealing with and whether it will get its money back.

It is different with the cards that are available at petrol stations or kiosks. On the one hand, there are prepaid credit cards. So you can only spend the money that you have previously loaded. The provider does not have to fear a financial loss. In addition, you can only top up cards that you have not verified once. When verifying, you often have to reveal your name or at least your contact details.

The You can use credit as with normal prepaid credit cardsby paying in stores or online. With some card models, you can also withdraw money from ATMs. You can top up the credit on the card later, for example by transferring money or by paying in cash in a store.

You only remain anonymous with the cards. Although no name is printed on the card, this entry is often required in the payment routes of online shops. That means: Even if you can technically use the card anonymously, the retailer has to play along as well. In addition, many dealers ask for further information, for example the address.

You can activate the cards by SMS. As a rule, the SIM card will also be traceable.

What do anonymous credit cards cost?

The prepaid credit cards on the market are not exactly cheap. First you have to pay around 10 euros when you buy the card, then one drops annual fee at. The providers also charge fees if you do not use the card for a longer period or if you want to change the PIN.

In some cases, there are already fees when you load credit onto the card in order to be able to use it at all. There are maximum limits for the sums you load onto the card.

In addition, you pay the usual fees, for example every time you withdraw money or if you use the card in a currency other than euros.

Pay attention to the validity of the card: Some providers simply send a new card for a fee after the old credit card has expired. If you do not want this, you have to cancel the card in good time.

Who are anonymous credit cards for?

The prepaid credit cards from the petrol station are only worthwhile in very few cases. The card is interesting for people with bad Schufa entries, as the creditworthiness of the holder is not checked. However, you could also apply for a normal prepaid card, which can do a lot more. If the credit rating looks better, the right credit cards are the best choice.

Anonymous credit cards are actually only of interest to people who need a card for a few purchases but generally do not want to buy a credit card.
