Rockstar Games: GTA 5 sells like sliced bread

The latest financial figures from Take-Two show again that Rockstar Games has created a real milestone with GTA 5. The open-world shooter has sold over 110 million times so far. Red Dead Redemption 2 still lags behind this goal. In September GTA 5 celebrates its sixth anniversary and the game is still one of the most popular titles on the market. Above all, the well-running mode Grand Theft Auto Online washes a lot of money into the coffers of the developer Rockstar Games and the parent company Take-Two. To date, over 110 million copies of GTA 5 have been sold over the counter, 10 million of them in the last 6 months alone. There are also high numbers of players in the Steam charts, in which the open-world shooter is consistently among the top 5 and at peak times has over 100,000 users playing at the same time via this distribution platform alone.

PC version of RDR2 could help GTA 6 work in progress

Rockstar Games is also satisfied with the start of Red Dead Redemption 2. Of course, the western shooter has not yet reached the impressive numbers of Grand Theft Auto 5, but with 24 million copies sold after a little more than half a year, one can already speak of a success. In addition, the developers are continuing to work on the Red Dead Online multiplayer mode, which is currently still in its beta phase. In the last three months, however, Rockstar was only able to sell about a million copies of the title.

Likewise, RDR2 has so far only appeared for the Sony PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Xbox One. A PC version of Red Dead Redemption 2 would certainly boost sales again properly. However, there are no more than unconfirmed rumors to report. The same applies to Rockstar's planning for the currently hotly debated GTA 6. There is currently a lot of speculation about the new locations. Grand Theft Auto 6 could use up to three well-known cities: Los Santos, Vice City and Liberty City. But Rockstar has not yet left any tangible information on this either.

Gaming fans are currently looking forward to the E3 game fair, which will take place in Los Angeles at the beginning of June. It remains to be seen whether Take-Two and, in particular, Rockstar Games will come up with major innovations. After all, at E3 you would have to share your attention with many other publishers and developers.
